    Dark Mofo - A new Winter festival for 2013

    The Premier and Minister for the Arts, Lara Giddings, has announced Tasmania will host a new cultural festival, Dark Mofo, which will be held in winter 2013. “Dark Mofo will be the cornerstone of a three-month calendar of cultural activities being led by MONA in conjunction with the Festival of Voices and other partners” Ms Giddings said “Dark Mofo will commence with a large-scale fire and light event at Salamanca, and will include a night market at Princes Wharf 1 with music programmed by Brian Ritchie, a headline musical artist, and partnerships with existing events including the Festival of Voices.”

    Cooly Rocks On

    Cooly Rocks On is a 1950s and 1960s nostalgia festival zeroing in on everything that was great about the era that was the fifties and sixties, classic cars, rock 'n' roll music and dance, fashions, hairstyles, et cetera. It was a time before mobile phones, computers and hand held games, when yoyo's and hula hoops ruled. Cooly Rocks On is held over eleven days during the first two weeks of June and culminates in an entertainment and classic car display extravaganza over the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

    Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul features more than 230 precious objects from archaeological sites along the ancient Silk Road, revealing Afghanistan's extraorinarily rich and diverse culture.
    Thought to have been lost or destroyed during years of conflict, these treasures were unexpectedly recovered from vaults where they had been hidden for safekeeping by courageous staff from the National Museum, Kabul.

    10th Anniversary Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp

    In 2013, the world’s best 16 and under year-old surfers will converge on the Gold Coast for the 10th annual Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp. Based at Duranbah Beach (Coolangatta/ Tweed Heads, Australia) and running from June 29 to July 3, the Billabong Occy’s Grom Comp is a truly international event with competitors travelling from all surfing states of Australia along with international surfers from South Africa, the United States of America, New Zealand, Tahiti and Japan. In a coup for competitors, a man-on-man heat format will be utilised for the semi-finals and finals of the 16 and under Boys, 16 and under Girls and 14 and under Boys divisions.

    Charters Towers Healthy Lifestyle Festival

    Charters Towers hosts the annual Gold Fever Healthy Lifestyle Festival which includes the Gold Fever Le Tour and the Gold Fever Fun Run. The festival is in it's fourth year and offers a wide variety of activities including live entertainment, fitness demonstrations, healthy living stalls, free kids entertainment, market stalls and local produce. Saturday kicks off with cycling Time Trials at the Weir followed by the Criterium at Lissner Park. Lifestyle stalls and activities will fill the park from 12pm on Saturday. The 10 kilometres and five kilometre Fun Runs have over AUD7500 in prize money up for grabs. Charters Towers Regional Council has again combined efforts with the local ""Relay for Life"" team to produce a three kilometre charity run/walk.

Events will be held at Glenelg, Christies Beach and the State Aquatic Centre at Marion.

    Adelaide Cabaret Festival is a major event in the international arts calendar.     All under the one roof at South Australia's creative heart, the Adelaide Festival Centre, you can experience Adelaide Cabaret Festival every June beginning on the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

R U Commuting aims to bring Active Cycle Darwin to a high level through participant numbers, exposure and by producing a well organised, safe and enjoyable event for families. Active Cycle Darwin is Approx 40kms loop from Mindil markets up to Casuarina Reserve with three water/rest stops along the way, great for the family and great viewing along the coast of Darwin. Money raised from the Active Cycle Darwin event is being donated to Kids with Cancer Foundation.

    Barunga Festival
    7th June – 10th June 2013

    Location: Barunga Community, Central Arnhem Rd, Barunga Community, Darwin CityFor the 28th year, the community of Barunga will host this much loved Territory event. Visitors from around the country are invited to visit the Barunga community, to camp and be part of a vast program of cultural and artistic workshops, dancing ceremonies, traditional bush tucker gathering, didgeridoo making, basket weaving and a huge 3-day line up of sport and contemporary music, including headline artist Gurrumul Yunupingu. Held annually on the June long weekend in a small Indigenous community south of Katherine, the Barunga festival is one of Australia's longest running cultural festivals. This iconic festival is home of the ‘Barunga Statement’ presented to Prime Minister Bob Hawke outlining the request for a Treaty between the Commonwealth Government and Indigenous Australia.
